Welcome to the AIM-AHEAD PAIR Cohort 2 Program!

We would like to welcome all of you to the second cohort of the AIM-AHEAD Program for Artificial Intelligence Readiness (PAIR)! We are extremely excited to have everyone join this program to strengthen the foundations for sustainable success in AI/ML health equity research within their institutions and communities. This year’s cohort has a diverse range of cutting-edge research goals. We hope awardees are successful in completing the PAIR program and establishing their AI/ML for Health Equity Research Labs.

AIM-AHEAD PAIR PROGRAM
Call For Experts and Grant Writing Coaches

The AIM-AHEAD Program for Artificial Intelligence Readiness (PAIR) is recruiting experts and grant writing coaches for our second cohort of the AIM-AHEAD PAIR Program (see Cohort 2 CFP here). This program will engage several teams of researchers from low resourced institutions to build an AI for Health Equity Lab within their organization. All PAIR Program Cohort 2 Awardees will have access to the experts through the AIM-AHEAD PAIR Expert Program and will have one Grant Writing Coach. The AIM-AHEAD Coaches will be chosen from a pool of AIM-AHEAD Coach applicants. The AIM-AHEAD Experts will be chosen from a pool of AIM-AHEAD Expert applicants. The AIM-AHEAD Expert Pool Application and Grant Writing Coach Application will be open from December 18, 2024 - January 27, 2025. All selected experts will be notified by February 17, 2024.

AIM-AHEAD EXPERTS

Eligibility Criteria for AIM-AHEAD Experts:

  • Expertise in one of the following areas: AI/ML, Health equity, Statistical analysis, EHR analysis, Clinical research, Social determinants of health.
  • Prior mentorship experience.
  • Can come from different sectors such as industry, non-profit organizations, healthcare organizations, faith-based institutions, or academic institutions.

Expectations for AIM-AHEAD Experts:

  • Experts will make a time and effort commitment towards the mentoring and guidance of awardees.
  • Experts will facilitate access to expertise to advance research and team building.
  • Experts will attend monthly check-ins with the awardees for research progress and review the mentee's monthly progress report.
  • Experts will provide mentees with field expertise and advice.
  • AIM-AHEAD Experts will receive a stipend of $10,000 as allowed by their institutional policy.
  • Experts will conduct 1-2 seminars for all PAIR awardees.

Terms and Conditions for AIM-AHEAD Experts:

The Terms and Conditions will include the benefits and responsibilities that the experts agree to when they accept the AIM-AHEAD expert role.

  • Experts should have Ph.D., MD or equivalent qualification (such as PharmD., DNP, or Dr.PH) or strong expertise in AI/ML, Health equity, Statistical analysis, EHR analysis, Clinical research, Social determinants of health, or related areas.
  • Experts will submit a W9, EFT, and signed contract.
  • Experts should be associated with an organization (educational institution, private sector, community organization, etc.). Experts cannot be individuals without an organizational affiliation.
  • Experts will have no conflict of interest with AIM-AHEAD. A conflict of interest would be individuals that are AIM-AHEAD PAIR Program Stakeholders, and current individuals that work with AIM-AHEAD Coordinating Center for the PAIR Program.
  • AIM-AHEAD Coordinating Center members selected as AIM-AHEAD experts should consult with their institutions about COI and acceptance of payment.
  • Experts will be in good standing with their organization.
  • Experts will receive a $10K stipend benefit paid in two equal installments; first installment at mid-year and the second installment at the end of the year.
  • Experts will adhere to AIM-AHEAD Coordinating Center policies, termination, non-compliant agreements, and these terms & conditions.
  • AIM-AHEAD MPIs can participate as AIM-AHEAD experts but will not receive the expert stipend per NIH requirements.

AIM-AHEAD GRANT WRITING COACHES

Eligibility Criteria for AIM-AHEAD Grant Writing Coaches:

  • Experience in developing grant applications (e.g. NIH) in biomedical, clinical, behavioral social and health disparities.
  • Prior Grant Writing Coaching experience.
  • Can come from different sectors such as industry, non-profit organizations, healthcare organizations, faith-based institutions, or academic institutions.

Expectations for AIM-AHEAD Grant Writing Coaches:

  • Coaches will make time and effort commitment towards awardees grant proposal development.
  • Coaches will attend all grant writing sessions.
  • Coaches will have monthly communication between AIM-AHEAD awardees.
  • Coaches will attend mandatory month PAIR Program Meetings.
  • Coaches will attend monthly check-in with the awardees for grant writing progress.
  • AIM-AHEAD Coaches will receive a stipend of $10,000 as allowed by their institutional policy.

Terms and Conditions for AIM-AHEAD Grant Writing Coaches:

    (You must create a new account as a “Mentor/Expert” if you do not have an account on AIM-AHEAD Connect.)
  3. Now, you have landed in the AIM-AHEAD PAIR Cohort 2 program. Click the “Apply to become an AIM-AHEAD PAIR Expert or Grant Writing Coach” button to apply to be an Expert or Grant Writing Coach.
  4. You have now completed your application to be an Expert or Grant Writing Coach for an AIM-AHEAD PAIR Program. If you are selected, you will receive an email from PAIR Administration. All selected experts and coaches should be notified by February 17, 2025. Please make sure to check your Junk/Spam folder during this time.
